The bolero is ballet music written at the request of the dancer Ida Rubinstein in 1927. Wanting to create a new work, he chose the bolero, attracted by the repetitive rhythm of this dance.
Ravel succeeded in creating a 17-minute score and giving the bolero its gigantic dimension with just a two-bar rhythmic ostinato and two themes in the homonymous keys of C major and C minor through his orchestration (interplay of timbres) and the progression of the long crescendo.
He entered the CNR in Lyon in 1972 at the age of 8, and in 1983 obtained his A6 baccalauréat with a music option, his music training diploma, his gold medal for flute and his vermeille medal for composition.
He enrolled at Lyon II University in 1983, graduating in 1986 with a degree in musicology.
After completing his studies, he did his military service in the Lyon 5th Region Band.
From 1987 to 1998, he taught flute and musical training and conducted the wind band at the Tassin la demi-lune music school, which enabled him to make numerous arrangements for his pupils.
From 1998 to 2020, he has taught the transverse flute, recorder and Native American flute in various music schools in the Rhône and Isère regions, and has arranged numerous scores in collaboration with the Saint Galmier wind band, the Isle d'Abeau music school band and the Vénissian presto band.
